About AEA

The Aurora Education Association

AEA is the professional organization for teachers working in the Aurora Public Schools district in Colorado. AEA represents more than 1500 dedicated educators who work daily to improve the quality of education for Aurora students. AEA advocates for the interests, rights and responsibilities of Aurora teachers. Over 70% of the teachers employed in APS choose to be members of AEA.

AEA is an affiliate of the Colorado Education Association (CEA) and the National Education Association (NEA), and supports the organizational and democratic beliefs of our state and national organizations.

The AEA Officers are teachers elected by the AEA members to represent the goals of the organization and teachers. The AEA President is released full-time from teaching duties to serve the membership and direct the organization.

The AEA Board of Directors are full-time teachers who are elected to serve members across the district. The Board makes all policy decisions for AEA, which are then approved by the Association Representative Council.

The Association Representatives are full-time teachers who are elected by members at their worksites to represent the voice and interests of their members both at the worksite and at the AR Council.
